Loved Friendly's. My hangout was the one on corner of Berkshire Ave and Bay St, was my now It's a Chinese restaurant. Chocolate almond chip in a cone! Yummy!! I was bummed out when I saw Russell's restaurant on Boston Rd was gone. One of the best breakfast places in Pine Point area. And of course Tony's Pizza it's still there. Tommy as we get older we appreciate the simple things in life. Be it a classic ice cream sundae or a classic video game. Keep up the good work. And remember, stay frosty!

Rick

ohh and I felt the same way you did about friendlys when i saw The Home Depot replaced the Dusk to Dawn drive in! So many great nights there, and first dates! LOL

Mine was the one in 16 Acres on Wilbraham Rd.  Right next to H.O.T., Dairy Mart, Cumberland Farms, Parker Drugs, Big Y and Papa Gino's!  :)

Very cool!  Thanks!

I can't believe that Patchwork game is above things like Ticket To Ride.  We got the Patchwork game a few weeks ago because it was at the top of everyone's list of BEST GAMES and we absolutely hated it.  I just don't get that one.  Clearly it's popular... so mad respect to the creators.  But we just didn't find it fun at all.

btw... why did you change from cherry to grape?

:)

Yeah, there's some games in that top 20 or so I just don't care for. For instance I bought Sagrada last year and was enamored with it for a good couple of weeks, then decided it was not my cup of tea and sold it. It's also hard to get some of the good stuff after it goes out of print. But there's other games in the 50-100 range I really enjoy. Also, that list is only tagged as 'family', so there's a lot of good party type games missing.

Why grape? I don't know...I noticed that the top part of my avatar was cut off, and it started bugging me. Grape is the better flavor anyway. And in contrast to the straight on cherry pop, the grape popsicle has a stylish leaning to it which brings a sort of artful class I think.

Jesus, I'm bored.

Totally!  Tons of potential.  Different and more difficult boards would be cool.  More bumpers, different shapes... could even do a golf course looking one with bunkers, water, etc.  :)

One of the things mentioned in the Crokinole review I watched made me think of the Amico controller. Since there is a rule you have to stay seated, shots that are in directly in front of you are easier than shots you take from the sides of your shooting area, since your wrist is bent and it's harder to aim straight when you are not able to line up the shot. I suppose this difficulty ramp could be simulated with the motion controls somehow...

You're  amazing. Can't believe how many changes you've made and some of them take major talent. Awesome!

Folklore games? Why is it a folklore game? Isn't folklore like big foot, paul bunyan, leprechauns and king arthur?

I was looking at people playing this. My question is how would you fling the pieces across the board?  I was thinking of the game golden tee and how you would slid the ball forward to hit the ball wonder if sliding your finger over the touchscreen in a forward position would work?

I am playing catch up in this thread but I love to see crokinole being mentioned. I have had a crokinole board for a really long time and my extended family plays all the time together. Carrom in Ludington, Michigan makes some good boards that are budget friendly if anyone is interested. It would be interesting to see it on Amico.

Just so everyone's aware, 1001lives and LordRayken are the same person.  We just discovered he's been using two accounts to post in this and other Amico threads. If you look above, you can see his last two posts (before I permanently banned both of them) were within four minutes of each other.  What you cannot see is that they were both using the same IP.  Further research revealed that he's been doing this for a while, with both accounts posting within minutes of each other consistently, and only in Amico threads..

 ..Al

There was a kid named Jonathan G. Lebed aged 14 years old back in the late 90's that conned a lot of investors out of their money using similar tactics. He created numerous accounts and basically had conversations with himself to mislead inexperienced investors into purchasing shares of stocks that he already owned. He would then sell to those buyers for big profits $$$. Smart kid but he eventually got caught.

Is Farkle the same as the game Zilch? I read up on the game and it doesn't seem that different. I played a lot of Zilch growing up.

Same game, grew up playing Zilch and found Farkle on iOS a while back. Me and my wife play a few times a week, the RL version with RL dice.

Cool!  I'm an Android guy so I'm gonna check it out this weekend!

Downloaded the game and played a few rounds. Fun game, it's a keeper. Would love to see it on the Amico. Any chance you could make that happen Tommy?

Crokinole has become the talk of the company today!  I sent out a company wide mail (including all of our International offices) and not a single person had heard of the game... yet EVERYONE thought it was super cool and can't wait to play!

It's like a cross between cornhole, marbles, shuffle board & bocci!

My board shows up next week!

It is very similar to ”couronne”, which was a popular family/kids game when I was growing up, so a cross between pool and crokinole.

BGG rankings should always be taken with a big grain of salt.

As for Patchwork, hard-core gamers tend to dislike it, but it's highly popular with couples. There is a bit of competition to get some of the good pieces, but not enough to cause frustration. I'd say it's a "Zen" kind of game and people who like it generally don't care much about winning or losing.

More info to come!

If they could do this for the Graphite Black, I would be all over it!  Any idea if they will have the same offer for that one?

Watching the Crokinhole videos, where they play "pinghelle" (that's how we call the gesture of hitting something from the middle finger loading it against the thumb finger in my city) I thought of a game that they played very often as children.  It is called Ciclotappo, in practice the "synalcols" were used, that is the crown caps of the bottles, the photo of a famous cyclist was cut from the newspapers and it was put inside with stucco and a glass, it was closed inside.  Then with the blackboard chalk the race circuits were drawn on the ground, and then the race started, each with his cyclist-cap hitting them with the "pinghelle" in turn to make them move forward without leaving the track.  There is also the summer version that is played at the beach on the sand with plastic balls always with cyclists inside, it's called Cheecoting and the principle is the same.  I don't know if I can put some videos (forgive my little experience with this type of thing) but I believe that if you could simulate on the touchscreen the strength and direction of a "pinghella" could be a perfect game for Amico, to play  as live with as many friends as possible.  I have no idea if such a thing exists in the gaming world, I have never seen one.  PS I approached this thread and Atari Age for the education and civilization that I saw in the posts, I hope it can continue as it was until recently, of broken boxes (problems) we already have many in everyone's life  the days.

Since we are talking about game ideas, I play disc golf and would love to see it on the Amico!  There is a whole strategy in the game just like regular golf.  You have discs that curve left or right, depending on how it's thrown (forehand/backhand) and you also have discs that go relatively straight.  You also have different discs for different distances, just like a driver, mid range, and a putter.  I could definitely visualize this as a motion controlled game.  Any chance this game is being looked at for the Amico Tommy?

Not to belabor this point, but I looked at that conversation on Reddit.  Here's some additional information regarding the 1001lives and LordRayken accounts:

1) Both accounts are using the same computer to login to the forum:

...

The odds of two different people using two entirely different ISPs and posting from these different ISPs with the same IP address repeatedly within minutes of one another on the same thread on AtariAge seems rather improbable to me.

...

If 1001lives/LordRayken wants to plead his case, he's more than welcome to use the site's contact form (link at the bottom of every page) to do so.  Otherwise I am not spending any additional time on these two accounts.

...

So you are saying Papy, just ignore all of this (and all of the other posts) as a mod of a site? Basically don't do your job.

This is in no way anyone here is censoring anyone with this action. First two accounts got banned, from the posts made under those accounts one was *very* Amico positive and the other *semi* Amico positive - so banning those accounts, in no way benefits people who like the Amico. Albert has made multiple posts using the tools available to the mods site both IP and in the post above I am assuming cookie/tracker based (btw network admin for 15+ years here). All indications shows that these two users accounts are violating the terms of use of this site. END OF STORY. You violate appropriate usage on this site and they can ban you, pro Amico, anti Amico NONE of that matters. This isn't censorship, that is following the rules. You are simply casting it as censorship because it benefits your narrative. Which takes me to your next statement:

Yeah whatever you do DON'T look into the activities of ANY of the cadre of haters out there. Sure they use every underhanded trick in the book: lie, innuendoes, bullying, setup false accounts (not even referring to this incident, I am tracking *multiple* accounts on Reddit I suspect are shadow accounts). Just shows the transparency of YOUR position and how little you worried about 'justice' and much more how you think you found a point to trash this community *for something we had no hand in*. This came out of the blue from the moderators at this site, and I was personally shocked to see it.

BTW, 1001Lives is NOT banned on Reddit r/Amico (I am a mod) because so far as I can see he hasn't violated the *Reddit* terms of service. If he or *anyone* else does, pro Amico, anti Amico or whatever - and this is never a move made lightly - they will be banned. Because you know, that is our responsibility to maintain the community. Mods don't have perfect tools and it isn't a perfect world, but in the face of overwhelming evidence I would imagine any mod would have done the same thing. Stop blaming this community, and worse, blaming the mods for doing what they are here for.

Not sure if this has been asked before.  But what about Raiden on Amico?  Like the original arcade version?  Any chance of this happening Tommy?  Also what about doing a port of Raiden Trad from Sega Genesis?  It was also on the SNES.

Wow I love see all of the different games that people play - the "sand castle" course is a genius idea. It reminds me a bit of auto racing, miniature golf & bocce combined together. The indoor race track version even has bridges over the course to make it more interesting. Very cool.
